A form of vitamin E, a fat-soluble antioxidant.
Delta and gamma tocotrienols from annatto, no added tocopherols.
Supports your cells' antioxidant defenses.
Third-party tested and made in the USA.
Quantity

Toco-E is Morphus's tocotrienol vitamin E supplement, also searched as toko-e, toco e, or tocotrienol E. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant (NIH Office of Dietary Supplements), and tocotrienols are one of its two families. The other family, tocopherols, is what most vitamin E supplements use.

Toco-E uses delta and gamma tocotrienols (about 90% delta and 10% gamma) from annatto, with no tocopherols added.

What Toco-E is formulated to support

  • Your cells' antioxidant defenses*
  • A daily vitamin E routine without added tocopherols

Why tocotrienols come up in menopause

Research links the drop in estrogen during menopause to higher oxidative stress (Doshi and Agarwal, Journal of Mid-life Health, 2013). Tocotrienols act as antioxidants, which is why so many women in midlife ask us about them.

What the research says, and what it doesn't

Tocotrienols were first isolated in the 1960s, from rubber tree latex (Whittle, Dunphy and Pennock, Biochemical Journal, 1966), and have been studied in people since. Most of the human trials enrolled people who already had a health condition, so the results don't automatically apply to everyone. When researchers pooled those trials, the results were mixed: no change in most of the blood markers they measured, and small changes in a few (Zuo et al., Complementary Therapies in Medicine, 2020; Khor et al., PLOS ONE, 2021). We'd rather you hear that from us.

Please check with your healthcare provider before starting Toco-E, especially if you take a blood thinner. Vitamin E can raise the risk of bleeding when taken with medicines like warfarin (NIH Office of Dietary Supplements).

Watch my interview with Dr. Barrie Tan, a longtime tocotrienol researcher and the founder of American River Nutrition, the company that makes the DeltaGold® tocotrienols in Toco-E. We talk about tocotrienols in perimenopause and menopause.

Some of what we discuss goes further than the published research has confirmed so far. For what the studies actually found, see the research notes in the product description above, and please check with your healthcare provider before changing your routine.

Does Toco-E contain tocopherols?

No. Toco-E contains only tocotrienols, with no tocopherols added.

Why didn’t you include tocopherols in your formula?

In animal research, alpha-tocopherol (the form of vitamin E in most supplements) reduced how much tocotrienol built up in the body’s tissues (Uchida et al., Lipids, 2012). That hasn’t been confirmed in people, but it’s why we chose to leave tocopherols out.

Where are your tocotrienols sourced from?

Our tocotrienols come from the seeds of the annatto plant (Bixa orellana), which are naturally almost free of tocopherols.

How much delta vs. gamma tocotrienols does Toco-E have?

Our formula contains 90% delta and 10% gamma tocotrienols.

Does Toco-E need to be refrigerated once opened?

No it does not. Always keep this supplement in a cool, dry area.

Can I get enough tocotrienols from my diet?

Tocotrienols are found in small amounts in foods like rice bran, palm oil and some grains, so most of us don’t get much from food. The label directions for Toco-E are 1 to 2 softgels a day with food. Please don’t take more than the label says unless your healthcare provider tells you to.

Can I take Toco-E with a blood thinner?

Talk to your healthcare provider first. Vitamin E can raise the risk of bleeding when taken with blood thinners like warfarin (NIH Office of Dietary Supplements).

Does Toco-E affect our hormones?

Toco-E contains no estrogen or other hormones. If you use hormone therapy or take any medication, check with your healthcare provider before adding a new supplement.

Can men use your Toco-E?

Yes, they can.
