Is berberine backed by research for women with PCOS?

Yes. Clinical studies in women with PCOS, a condition that shares insulin-resistance traits common in perimenopause and menopause, show berberine can improve insulin sensitivity and support healthier triglyceride and cholesterol levels. In some trials, berberine performed comparably to metformin in supporting metabolism. While it’s often marketed for appetite control, the strongest human evidence supports its role in blood sugar and metabolic regulation.

Other brands have 500mg of berberine per capsule. Why does yours only have 400mg? Isn’t more always better?

At Morphus, we emphasize quality over quantity when it comes to dosing. We are strict about using high-quality ingredients backed by research. Just because a capsule has more of an ingredient doesn’t mean it is better for you or that you’re absorbing it all. We used an enhanced emulsification delivery system for this product, which helps to maximize absorption and, therefore, its effects, so we can use less of it to get the same or similar results.  

Berberine has a bit of a bitter taste. Is that normal?

Yes! Although very mild and undetectable in the softgel, berberine has a bitter taste. If you detect it, it is entirely normal, and the product has nothing wrong.

How long can I take Berberine?

According to WebMD, up to 1,500mg of Berberine can be used safely every day for six months. It is recommended to alternate your use of Berberine (meaning take a break every so often for at least 2 to 4 weeks, then go back on it).
